When dealing with Alcoholism, the Alcoholic isn’t the only one who suffers from the disease. Friends and family are also  greatly effected. But there is help. Al-Anon and Alateen are programs designed to help support those who have alcoholic loved ones. This understanding support can be of tremendous value to those in need.

It’s important for those close to an alcoholic to educate themselves not only about the disease but about the effects it can cause. These programs allow these friends and family members to understand they are not alone. Sharing experiences, feelings, and ideas for dealing with the disease can be a vital part of the coping process.

If you are a friend or loved one of an alcoholic, or know someone who is, please direct them to this site:

Here you can find more information about the program as well as a schedule of meetings in your area. Alcoholism is a family disease, everyone needs to be treated for such. Get the help you need and very much deserve.
