Avoid Having Alcoholic Kids

StopIn today’s society it is so important that children are taught the dangers that both drugs and alcohol can present to their lives. Parents need to get more involved with educating their children and make them understand that Alcohol isn’t all it is made out to be and that it is a serious threat to our health.

Get the facts first and you will find the Internet a very useful learning tool, as it is basically the largest Library in the world and there are several excellent online guides to the affects of alcohol on both our health and our lives.

It is always a good idea to teach them early as they are about to become teenagers and before other kids start to give them the wrong ideas about alcohol. Give this total parent backing, so Mum and Dad should be giving the same advice on just how alcohol can ruin the rest of their lives if they get into this bad habit at a young age.

Make it a relaxing affair and make sure you let them participate too, just so you know what they have been learning from other children. It must be made clear that alcohol is a drug and therefore it is addictive, meaning just one glass of beer could be the cause to a young child becoming an alcoholic.

It must be made perfectly clear too that they should never accept alcohol or drugs from anyone at school, and that such eventualities should be reported to you. That though will require a bond of trust with your children, so make sure they realize that you really do trust them and then they will find it easier to confide in you.

Student surveys reveal that when parents are prepared to listen to their child’s feelings or problems, the child is often more likely to stay off drugs or alcohol. If your child has a sudden change in character or in some way not their normal behavior, then seek with drugs and alcohol, seek professional guidance immediately.

Remember the best education is provided through setting a good example, so make sure that you limit your own habits and that alcohol is not accessible at home. The right environment at home is the key for your children future as alcohol or drugs will only end up reversing an exemplary family union.

Alcoholic or Heavy Drinker?

Stop There is quite a high proportion of drinkers who although have alcohol related problems, are not in fact alcoholics, meaning that quitting drinking will not necessarily mean that they require any medical treatment or even AA group support. That is great news for a lot of people who have no idea that stopping drinking alcohol isn’t that complicated.

Statistics actually show that people who attempt to stop drinking, do not receive any third party support. How do they do that? you may ask, well it is just a matter of will power to change or reduce bad drinking habits. One thing that heavy drinkers have in common is that they all know other heavy drinkers and they may just be inspired to do the same as another heavy drinking friend.

What might this really mean in a real case study? Well, having a drinking problem will not necessarily result in expensive medical bills and attending AA meetings can be avoided. That includes alcohol drinkers who are chemically dependent on alcohol on a daily basis as alcoholism is a disease that is more complex than just a craving for alcohol. These heavy drinkers may require medical assistance at first to help with alcohol detox, but with just a little bit of Willpower, they can manage on their own for the rest of the way.

If you believe that you may fall into that category of heavy drinkers, and have the desire to cut back or even stop drinking totally, the stop drinking advice guide will become your blueprint to achieve your goals on your own. See how other people have made the change to an alcohol free existence, hear what they had to experience through the initial stages, and the joy they now behold having been able to remove alcohol from their daily lives.

Alcohol is a leading family destroyer and needs to be checked fast, or the results for the whole family will be extremely painful and irreversible. If you know of any cases among family of friends, then take a step forward and make sure they get the stop drinking advice they need. Going alone is a daunting task and often delays heavy drinkers decisions to stop drinking alcohol. With just a little encouragement, heavy drinkers can change their lives and those of their family and friends, and you don’t know just how kind and helpful previous heavy drinkers become, so make sure they get this stop drinking advice that will benefit so many other people too.

The Choices for Alcoholics

StopWhat most goes through most alcoholics mind during a period of reflection is whether they will really have to stop drinking alcohol forever. The idea of drinking in moderation or just socially seem to be distinct possibilities but just the thought of being able a have a least one more drink will make giving up even more appealing.

The fact of the matter is that there are alcoholics that may have been in rehab and later been able to even do that, but we can’t really be 100% certain that those people were actually alcoholics in the beginning, as they may just have abused alcohol or were just binge drinkers.

If you were to ask your average alcoholic if they thought that having the occasional drink would be an option to consider, they would definitely say no.

It takes a lot for an alcoholic to even try to have the odd drink and I have heard several stories from people who have and then regretted it later. One guy in his forties who had been dry since his teens decided to start again thinking he was ready, but only ended up getting back his previous bad habits and has not since been able to get dry.

I also heard of a female alcohol that managed to stop drinking alcohol due to her pregnancy. She was so happy with herself and she had a beautiful baby girl. Her husband brought out a bottle of champagne on her home coming to celebrate the special occasion, but from that moment on their happiness disappeared as quickly as it arrived.

Well, there are so many more sad tales of all sorts of people but all with the same beginning and the same end. It is a difficult step to take when somebody decides to stop drinking alcohol and as we have seen, there are no two ways about it, so expert help and advice should be taken at all cost.

The stop drinking advice blog is a great place to start where you will be able to get good advice from qualified experts that deal with people who have already helped other people to stop drinking alcohol as well as doing it themselves.

Stress Reduction Part 2

ReadingMy position is that you need flexibility and an assortment of other strategies, preferably healthier strategies, to help you to relax.

Drinking is often more stressful if you are drinking in noisy environments, which itself causes stress, with people who are getting you to drink up, etc. You must also factor in the damage from the toxins, the stress on your liver, body, mind, etc.

The best option, if you have a lot of stress in your life, is to deal with it as soon as you can. Delaying relaxing can create serious health problems.

What can you do instead of drinking? The tried and true remedies are often the best: meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises, reading, going for walks in the park, spending time in silence, with your family, massages etc….

7 Tips for Quitting Alcohol

Stop The decision to stop alcohol addiction is a hard one. Here is a list of 7 helpful tips to help you on your path to a life without alcohol.

1) Do it for Yourself – You have to want it to make it work. If you don’t do it for yourself, you might find yourself starting out with a setback.

2) Importance of Physical Exercise – People who exercise regularly while trying to stay sober are less likely to relapse. Exercise has a tendency to lower stress and keep a person in a more relaxed state which is a plus when working toward sobriety.

3) Reward Yourself – Many people are so focused on reaching goals that they forget to reward themselves for the ones accomplished. Rewards keep your spirits up.

4) Don’t Feel Guilty Should You Fail – Guilt over a relapse or setback is only counterproductive to your end goal. Alcohol addiction is a major challenge and like most challenges, is not easy.

5.) Get some kind of outside help – Whether it’s A.A., therapy, or a proven formula to get sober. Left alone to ones thoughts and methods is probably not the best thing, since those thoughts and methods contributed to the addiction in the first place.

6) Seek Out Company – This can be a challenge for those who are single. If you can’t encircle yourself with people, get out more which helps create a brand new outlook on life.

7.) Develop a new daily routine that does not include drinking alcohol. Get up earlier, incorporate some exercise into the daily routine, the possibilities are endless. After all, to stop drinking is to make a fresh start on its own.

Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome – Are You a Sufferer?

WithdrawlThe majority of so called “social drinkers” or “alcohol consumers” who drink moderately are able to stop drinking immediately with hardly any will power and without suffering from any of the side effects.

Whereas heavy drinkers and alcoholics are guaranteed alcohol withdrawal symptoms, be it mild or severe. The symptoms suffered as a whole caused by the cessation of alcohol intake are known collectively as “alcohol withdrawal syndrome”.

The majority of withdrawal symptoms suffered are physical and include headaches, upset stomach, feeling sick and vomiting. There are also psychological symptoms caused through alcohol withdrawal such as mood swings, nervousness, jitters and anxiety. And just to add to these, your body can also experience body temperature and heartbeat increases as well as breathing difficulties.

A loss of sleep, insomnia accompanied by bad dreams, loss of appetite, sweaty or clammy palms and skin, uncontrollable eyelid movements and dilation in the size of the pupils are other common symptoms of sudden alcohol withdrawal. All these can be easily treated with prescribed medication.

Serious Symptoms: Just to add to the list there are also quite a few serious withdrawal symptoms. On the whole anyone who does manage to kick drinking won’t suffer from the following, but a small percentage do suffer from seizures, hallucinations and delirium tremens, all of which are accompanied by a state of anxiety, confusion and hallucinations. Don’t waste any time in going to seek medical advice.

Alcoholism – What Is The Social Impact?

suffer
alcoholism has a catastrophic impact on society. No man is an island, and an alcoholic will always have an impact on those around him. Being a victim of alcoholism has serious consequences. The effects of being constantly drunk will make an alcoholic suffer at work which can result in losing his job. The financial implications of this will alter his life. He may lose his house, and because of his addiction to alcohol he will find getting another job impossible. Drinking excessively can reduce judgment. An alcoholic will behave inappropriately often leading to criminal charges such as public disorder and driving under the influence. This negative behavior will drive away those closest to an alcoholic, such as family and friends, contributing to marital conflict and potentially divorce. The altered behavior can damage the alcoholic’s children’s development leaving deep emotional scars.
