The Aftermath of Drunk Driving
We all know drinking and driving is not a good idea. We’ve all heard stories or know people who have been killed or seriously injured by drunk drivers. Yet people choose to drive while impaired all the time. Even if you’re one of the lucky ones who don’t end up hurting or killing someone, getting caught can have a serious impact on your life.
The penalties vary from state to state for convicted drunk drivers but here are some what you can expect if caught:
â?º Loss of driving priveledges from 60 days to 6 years
â?º Fines ranging from $200 to $5000 plus lawyer fees, court costs and damage assessments
â?º Jail time even without causing injuries or damage
â?º Vehicle towing and impound charges
â?º Increased insurance premiums and deductibles
â?º Criminal record – which may affect your career, finances and reputation
There is no excuse for drunk driving. Have a designated driver, take a cab, call a friend or get a near-by room. The decision you make can effect your life forever or at the very least, a long time to come. Make your plans ahead of time so you won’t have to depend on your impaired judgement which could ruin your life.
